Overview
The Climate Policy Innovators Youth Camp 2.0 is a funded regional capacity-building programme for young people working in climate policy and governance across the Asia-Pacific region.
The 2026 edition will be held in Bangkok, Thailand and is organised by the UNFCCC Regional Collaboration Centre for Asia and the Pacific.
This programme builds on the success of the first Youth Camp held in February 2025 and responds to strong demand from youth for deeper and more practical learning in climate governance, policy design, and implementation.
About the Programme
The Climate Policy Innovators Youth Camp 2.0 aims to strengthen young people’s ability to meaningfully engage in climate policymaking at:
- National level
- Regional level
- International level
The programme focuses strongly on Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and National Adaptation Plans (NAPs).
Learning Focus Areas
Participants will take part in enhanced learning modules that include:
- Technical knowledge on climate policy
- Practical skills in policy formulation and governance
- Hands-on, practice-oriented learning
The programme strongly promotes inclusion, equity, and intersectionality, with representation across gender, disability, Indigenous identity, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic background.
Objectives of the Youth Camp
The programme aims to:
- Strengthen youth skills in climate governance and policy processes
- Enable youth to engage in NDC and NAP formulation and implementation
- Empower youth as active contributors to climate action
- Promote inclusive youth leadership in climate governance
- Prepare youth for participation in international climate negotiations and UNFCCC processes
Expected Outcomes
By the end of the camp, participants are expected to:
- Show improved knowledge and confidence in climate policy discussions
- Collaborate more effectively with governments and stakeholders
- Contribute youth-led perspectives to national, regional, and global climate processes
Who Can Apply? (Eligibility)
Applicants must:
- Be 18 years or older (within nationally defined youth age group)
- Be from an Asia-Pacific country
- Have prior or ongoing involvement in climate policy, including NDCs and/or NAPs
Priority will be given to youth from:
- Rural and low-income backgrounds
- Indigenous Peoples
- LGBTI+ communities
- NEET groups (Not in Education, Employment, or Training)
- Other underrepresented or marginalised communities
